Section Aims

Modern Greek culture with ancient Greek roots, Byzantine heritage, a tradition which was preserved in the Middle Byzantine period, during the period of Turkish rule, and took shape with the foundation of the modern Greek state, assimilating indigenous elements and influences from Western Europe and the Orient.

The aim in this section is to highlight the richness and multiformity of Modern Greek culture, focusing on the Thessaly area, and the way in which the notion of culture, in each of its various manifestations, has developed in recent and modern times.
