Section Aims

Modern Greek culture with ancient Greek roots, Byzantine heritage, a tradition which was preserved in the Middle Byzantine period, during the period of Turkish rule, and took shape with the foundation of the modern Greek state, assimilating indigenous elements and influences from Western Europe and the Orient.

The aim in this section is to highlight the richness and multiformity of Modern Greek culture, focusing on the Thessaly area, and the way in which the notion of culture, in each of its various manifestations, has developed in recent and modern times.

2.	Painted decoration of palaces in the period of Turkish domination
3.	The Neoclassical Architecture of Thessaly
4.	Painted decoration of houses of the Neoclassic Period
5.	Contemporary architectural trends
6.	Development of town planning of cities and settlements in the modern period
7.	Features of urban planning in cities and villages in the modern age (drinking fountains, bridges, cobbled streets, squares, etc.)
8.	The industrial architecture of Thessaly
9.	Traditional water-powered and other small industries in the Thessaly area
10.	Moveable monuments: characteristic examples of advanced artisanship (painting, sculpture in stone, wood carving, manufacturing and industrial equipment, wooden boats, railway equipment, etc.)
11.	Public Architecture in the Modern Period
