Our objective, with the cooperation of all the state, local government, private and social organizations and individuals in the cultural sector, is to highlight the historical and cultural wealth of Thessaly and its distinctive cultural identity in the Europe of the Regions.

The Congress aims to assess the historical and cultural wealth of Thessaly overall, and also to bring out the fundamental and unchanging elements which make up the mesh of the principal human activities which shaped - and continue to shape - the History and Civilisation of Thessaly.

It has additionally been concluded that there is a need for interdisciplinary recording and documentation of the cultural elements of Thessaly, and for these elements to be evaluated and protected, so that they can be highlighted through the networking of the Region's cultural sites, materials, products, infrastructure, and means, to create cultural itineraries which are themselves integrated into cultural itineraries at the Thessalian, Greek, European and International level.
